Q: What inspired you to create the color, Pisgah Blue?

JODI: Living in Western North Carolina it's easy to be inspired by the abundance of beauty in this area, such as the deep blue's  that one sees when looking at the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a calming and inspirational presence found within this mountain range, I knew we needed this same blue hue in our color line up. While creating this color I was very conscious that I wanted this blue to pair well with our existing line up of colors as well as be harmonious with other shades of blue that someone might already have in their homes. I believe we have found the perfect balance of warm and cool in our new Pisgah Blue color.

Q: How do you create the color in the studio?

JODI: To create our new color I spent a lot of time mixing various shades of blue until we found the perfect one. I started by mixing up a triaxial color blend which resulted in 21 different shades of blue.  This was done several times until I found the right combination. Once the perfect hue was selected I conducted additional testing to find the right saturation point. This process requires the right balance of intuition and technicality I love.

Q: Any other colors you’re looking forward to creating in the near future?

JODI: I am really passionate about color and the nuances found within each shade. We are currently working on the ideal red to add to the TBA color family. Looking ahead I think it would be fun to have limited color releases inspired by the different seasons, perhaps a buttery yellow or pastel pink.

Q: What’s your favorite TBA piece at the moment?

JODI: My favorite TBA piece is the soft and sleek Monday Mug.  I wake up everyday and drink my morning coffee from it. At this point the Monday mug feels like a friend.
